Itinerary in detail

Image of Sasaab Lodge, Samburu National Park

On a rocky outcrop overlooking the banks of the mighty Ewaso Nyiro River in the heart of Samburu lands in northern Kenya is Sasaab. The only lodge in the vicinity, it offers a unique and wild safari experience in an area renowned for a wide variety of game. This remote and untamed corner of Africa is small but richly populated with African wildlife, making for superb game viewing. It is home to countless wild creatures, including plains game, elephant herds, predators and the African wild dog.

The high plains and dramatic landscapes of Laikipia host the biggest game densities in Kenya outside the Masai Mara, all against the backdrop of beautiful Mount Kenya. Deep in this wild place is Lewa Wilderness Lodge, which gives you exceptional and uncrowded access to the area’s unspoilt diversity. Endless African plains, spectacular gorges and extraordinary indigenous forests straddling two different biomes support a unique mix of mammals.

Image of Rekero Camp, Masai Mara

End your incredible wildlife journey on a high point at Rekero, where Africa’s best guides will ensure you experience an incomparable Maasai Mara safari. Located deep in the Masai Mara Reserve at the confluence of the Mara and Talek rivers, Rekero is in the prime spot for the Great Migration. Watch migrating wildebeest herds thunder across the Mara River from the comfort of the camp’s main deck or traverse the rolling plains on game drives to find other animals.

Lewa Wilderness

Lewa Downs, the home of the Craig family since the 1920s, has gradually morphed from a family farm to an award-winning and exclusive wildlife conservancy. Set in breathtaking scenery in northern Laikipia, Mount Kenya dominates the views to the south while the stunning northern Kenya drylands stretch north to the Mathews Range. Plentiful African game dots the landscape in both directions. One fifth of all Grevy’s zebra are found on Lewa. Lewa Wilderness is more than a lodge, it is a home. Three garden cottages were built near the family house to host the first guests in 1972. The six…

Located deep in the Masai Mara Reserve at the confluence of the Mara and Talek rivers, Rekero occupies the prime spot for watching the Great Migration. Watch the drama unfold from the comfort of the camp’s main deck or listen to hippo grunts and bird calls out of migration season. Rekero was set up by Jackson Ole Looseyia and Gerard Beaton, who grew up together in the region. The Beatons pioneered conservation in Kenya. Jackson’s father, Sayole, was a hunter turned game ranger and worked with Gerard’s father, Ron. As one of the presenters on the BBC television series, the…
