The first private lodge to be built in the Zambezi National Park overlooks the upper reaches of the majestic Zambezi River, with fine views of the spray from the Victoria Falls.

Victoria Falls River Lodge is a luxury tented camp with 13 well-appointed tents perched on raised decks right on the banks of the river. Guests at the lodge are in the enviable position of being close enough to Victoria Falls to easily access the many activities on offer in the town while relishing the peace, wildlife and natural splendour of the Zambezi National Park. Elephant and other game often visit the unfenced camp, which also provides a range of tempting activities. Make the most of its location with game drives and walks led by expert guides in the park, sunrise or sunset game-viewing cruises and fishing and canoeing safaris on the Zambezi, and private tours of the Victoria Falls, or be pampered at the Toa Spa.

Enjoy panoramic views of the river from your own lounge area, or watch a splendid variety of birds from your private viewing deck, complete with plunge pool and sun loungers. Every room has the option of one king-sized or two three-quarter beds, all extra length, and is cooled by air conditioning or ceiling fans. Eight thatched deluxe tents with are stylishly decorated in muted earth colours with cooling white, sage and duck-egg blue accents, with a spacious 110m2 to relax in. Five luxury tented family suites with the same serene decor sleep five, with an additional room offering a three-quarter extra-length bed and a bunk bed. All tents have en-suite bathrooms but the private outdoor showers offer ablutions within sight of wallowing hippo.

The airy main lodge area is blessed with excellent views of a well-frequented elephant route. Savour the African sunset while sipping sundowners on the thatched viewing deck and observe elephant on their evening visits to the river. The riverside bar, lounge and dining areas, designed in low-key chic African style, are adjacent to the sparkling infinity pool.

Exceptional cuisine, served in the thatched dining area or the bar, features African-inspired dishes using only the freshest ingredients, on menus to suit every taste. The chefs produce their stylish fare in a kitchen designed by American chef Bruce Bromberg. A first-rate selection of fine South African wines completes the fine dining experience.
