Victoria Falls Hotel

Accommodation in

Built in 1904, the grande dame of the Victoria Falls belongs firmly in the top tier of the world’s luxury hotels with its blend of Edwardian splendour and modern sophistication.

The Victoria Falls Hotel is set in beautiful grounds with dramatic views of the Batoka Gorge, the Victoria Falls Bridge and the spray from the falls, with a private path leading directly to the falls. A member of the Leading Hotels of the World, the hotel underwent a grand refurbishment in 2013. The luxurious rooms of the main building, with complimentary WiFi and 24-hour room service, retain the sophisticated elegance of a bygone era.

The exclusive Stables Signature Wing offers excellent personalised service for small groups in its 42 lavish Deluxe Suites, with complimentary massages, afternoon teas and pastries. Guests in the wing enjoy their own private lounge, courtyard and reception area, and direct access to the sweeping front lawns. The Pullman Suite is an elegant meeting room reserved for guests in the wing.

The Victoria Falls Hotel maintains a reputation for excellent fare, with fine cuisine prepared by internationally trained chefs. Guests may start the day at the outdoor Jungle Junction restaurant with a veritable breakfast buffet banquet – favourites are the smoked salmon and champagne and orange juice – under the shade of the thatched colonnades, or return to dine under the stars while enjoying an evening of traditional entertainment with music and dance from around Africa.

The poolside bar and Stanley’s Terrace serve light meals throughout the day, with a barbecue available at the pool. The terrace, with sweeping views across the tree-dotted lawns to the Victoria Falls Bridge, is a great spot to lunch and is justly famous for its sumptuous High Tea, while the adjoining Stanley’s Bar invites you to enjoy sundown cocktails or home-made lemonade.

The colonial history of the hotel is reflected in its signature restaurant, the Livingstone Room, open only for dinner. The setting is one of old-style opulence, with gleaming hardwood tables topped by snowy white linen and glittering glassware reflecting the warmth of candlelight. Diners may choose from the a la carte menu or enjoy the seven-course degustation menu.

In Africa’s adventure capital there is a plethora of activities to choose from, with white water rafting, bungee jumping, fishing and canoeing among the pleasures on offer for the more active, and game drives in the nearby game parks, helicopter flips and sunset cruises on the Zambezi’s placid upper reaches for everyone. The Victoria Falls Steam Train utilises the original Victoria Falls Railway Station in the hotel’s grounds. Hotel guests have the added pleasures of strolling around the park-like grounds, visiting the Sculpture Garden or splashing in the well-appointed Edwardian Pool.
