Nestled in teak woodland only 20 minutes from the adventure hub of Victoria Falls, this exclusive safari camp breathes tranquillity. The design of the buildings brings the wilderness indoors with an airy flow from outside to the tasteful interiors. Each of the 12 luxury suites of The Elephant Camp Main sports a viewing deck, outdoor shower and private plunge pool. The tented suites are designed to make the most of their location facing the falls, with views from the oval baths, four-poster beds and lounging areas. The warm colours of the elegant safari-style décor echo the sunset hues of the spray from the ‘Smoke that Thunders’.
The intimate Elephant Camp West has just four suites hosting eight guests, ideal for small groups and families seeking seclusion. It shares the environmental sensitivity, refined style and sensational views of the main camp. The main pool deck and dining area are separate from the main camp.
The chefs at Elephant Camp fuse African flair and flavour with modern cuisine, using herbs from the gardens and fresh local ingredients. Delicious dishes are paired with a selection of fine South African wines. With the option of dining on the balcony of the main lodge or the deck of their tent, diners are assured of meals with a view.
The lodge’s proximity to the town of Victoria Falls means that guests can easily access the multiplicity of activities on offer, such as river cruises, white water rafting, elephant encounters, microlight rides and bungee jumps.
Moreover, the camp offers a range of activities with several at no extra cost. Elephant Camp is located in a private concession and guest can enjoy nature walks and birding with the qualified guides, or visit the adjacent Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust to learn more about elephants. A chance to meet elephants at the Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary and Orphanage is the unchallenged highlight. Make the most of guided tours of the falls, the Victoria Falls Canopy Tour, encounters with the giants of the bush at the Wild Horizons Elephant Orphanage and Sanctuary, or lunches at the Lookout Café overlooking the Batoka Gorge and cocktails at the camp’s private concession above the gorge. Keen and more casual cyclists are catered to with guided mountain biking trails in the Victoria Falls National Park or a cycling tour around town.
