South Africa has been called “a world in one country” for good reason. Its diversity of culture (there are 11 official languages), scenery (from stark desert to subtropical forests and snowcapped mountains) and wildlife (as varied and rich as anywhere else in Africa), along with a modern infrastructure, friendly locals and world class hotels and lodges combine to create a travel experience second to none. Few countries on earth can match the variety of attractions that South Africa offers, from the pristine wilderness of the Kruger National Park to the beauty and energy of multicultural Cape Town.

After arriving in Cape Town, you will be driven to the magnificent Ellerman House hotel, your base for several days while you explore the many attractions of one of the world’s most scenic cities. With your private guide, and travelling at your own pace, you will visit intriguing destinations like the Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Beach penguin colony, Table Mountain, the Waterfront and historic wine estates, as well as sample the fare at some of the Southern Hemisphere’s finest restaurants (we’ll make sure you get the best tables).

Then north to South Africa’s economic heartland on on board the world famous Blue Train, a luxurious hotel on wheels which transports you through some of South Africa’s most dramatic landscapes. After a visit to Johannesburg’s sobering Apartheid Museum and vibrant Soweto township, you’re off to Lion Sands, an exclusive game reserve connected to the Kruger National Park. The Sabi-Kruger ecosystem boasts what is probably the continent’s most eclectic congregation of wildlife (all of the so-called Big Five are abundant, and this is probably the best place in the world to see leopards in the wild). A fitting way to end a magnificent journey of discovery.
